Bertrand Chamayou, born in Toulouse, was noticed at the age 13 by pianist Jean-François Heisser, later his teacher at the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique de Paris. At the same time, he has been working assiduously with the famous Maria Curcio in London, and has received the precious suggestions of a high number of masters, including those of Murray Perahia.

Furthermore, Bertrand Chamayou has carried out great performances such as the cycle of the Vingt regards sur l’Enfant-Jésus on the occasion of the centenary of its composer or the Douze études d’exécution transcendante by Liszt, delivered umpteen times in concert, and resulting in a “live” that was unanimously acclaimed by critics (Sony Classical). In 2008, he produced a Félix Mendelssohn (Naïve) recital rewarded by many prizes. In spring 2010, Bertrand Chamayou released a César Franck (Naïve) album, playing together with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra conducted by Stéphane Denève. This album received several awards, including the Editor’s Choice by Gramophone.

Bertrand was invited to perform in great international stages such as the Salle Pleyel, the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, the Wigmore Hall, the Lincoln Center of New York, the Herkulessaal of Munich, the Philharmonie of Cologne, the Concertgebouw of Amsterdam, the Palais des Beaux-Arts of Bruxelles, the auditorium of Barcelona, the Conservatoire Tchaïkovski of Moscow, the Forbidden city concert hall of Beijing as well as in Festivals such as the Klavier festival Ruhr, the Mostly Mozart festival, the Gergiev festival of Rotterdam, the Lucerne festival, the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festspiele, the Musikfest of Bremen, the Schubertiade of Schwartzenberg, the Festival of Schwetzingen, the Piano aux Jacobins in Toulouse, which has been inviting him since its foundation, and sometimes also to the Chinese edition, the Roque d’Anthéron, the festival of the Chaise-Dieu, the festival of Besançon, where he replaced Krystian Zimerman at the last minute, the festival of the Côte Saint-André, the Easter Festival in Deauville, the festival of Radio France and Montpellier, offering a residence to him for its 2013 edition.

Bertrand Chamayou has been playing under conductors as Pierre Boulez, Andris Nelsons, Leonard Slatkin, Neville Marriner, Yutaka Sado, Semyon Bychkov, Philippe Herreweghe, Emmanuel Krivine, Michel Plasson, Stéphane Denève, Fabien Gabel, Ludovic Morlot, Jérémie Rohrer, Fayçal Karoui, Tugan Sokhiev, Lawrence Foster, Evelino Pido, Louis Langrée, Christian Arming, Paul Daniel, Joshua Weilerstein and also together with several renowned orchestras such as the Orchestre de Paris, the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the WDR Sinfonie Orchester of Cologne, the Deutsche kammer philharmonie of Bremen, the SWR Sinfonie Orchester of Stuttgart, the Orchestre national de France, the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, the Danish National Symphony Orchestra.

In 2006 Bertrand was appointed as Instrumental soloist revelation of the year at the Victoires de la musique classique, then in 2012 he was awarded as Instrumental soloist of the year, honouring an already promising career.

Contemporary music holds a major role in its activity. He has been collaborating with music living legends such as Henri Dutilleux and György Kurtag. He has been invited to the Présences festival to deliver concertos of Thomas Adès and Esa-Pekka Salonen. His activity as a chamber musician is essential, and he has been regularly performing with his friends Sol Gabetta, Renaud Capuçon, Daishin Kashimoto, Augustin Dumay, Antoine Tamestit, Gautier Capuçon, Nicolas Baldeyrou, Alexeï Ogrintchouk, David Guerrier, Paul Meyer, Emmanuel Pahud, the Ebène, Belcea, Ysaÿe quartets. Since 2013, he has been the artistic director of the Bel-Air claviers festival in Chambéry. In 2014 Bertrand signed an exclusivity contract with Erato. The first result of this collaboration is the Franz Schubert album, released in February. A complete Maurice Ravel performance that he is about to play worldwide has just been released. His previous recordings for Naïve has been appreciated, especially, in 2011, a complete Années de Pèlerinage, receiving various prizes (Gramophone’s Choice, Choc Classica, Diapason d’Or of Year 2012 and Victoire de la musique for the best recording of the year).
