From Fri 25 August to Sun 27 August - Deauville Yacht Club

Sailing: Les Voiles Classiques de Deauville

The Deauville Yacht Club, with long tradition and close connection with several English clubs, organizes the 1st edition of the “Voiles Classiques de Deauville”.

Several meetings gathering ancient sailing boats, which gave new impetus to sailing development in France, have been organized in the last few years on the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean.

Many owners or passionate for nice boats decided to renovate them, bringing them back to the sea and meet other owners to experience again the era in which sailing was associated with yachting.

Since 1928 and for more than 30 years, Deauville was one of the main sailing meeting points, welcoming 6M JI and 8M JI regattas; some sailing boats were built in Deauville, such as the famous Namoussa de Louis Bréguet.

3 types of boats are invited to participate to the meeting, which will be celebrated from August 19th to 21th:
- Traditional yacht built before 1979 or after this date, but in line with the spirit of Tradition
- One-Design series of boats whose design dates back to before 1968 (Dragon, Requin, Aile, MMM, 12m² du Havre, Star, Tofinou, etc…)
- Metric series of sailing boats: 8M JI, 6M JI, 5.50, Daring,...

Pre-defined windward-leeward itineraries in front of Deauville and a parade on the Touques are in program.
