From Fri 23 June to Mon 26 June - Deauville Yacht Club

Sailing: Open international de France de Dragon

About 35 Dragons are expected to compete in this major trial.

In the 1950’s, the most important Dragon fleet in France was based in Deauville, which lead to many races in Deauville as well as in Great-Britain. The tactical and technical body of water of Deauville was noticed by the International Dragon Association (IDA) managers that ranked Deauville in the Grade 2 IDA category in 2009. The Open International de Dragon gains momentum every year and welcomes more and more sailors. From across the globe, sailors honor the Deauville waters with their presence and prowess during the windward leeward courses between buoys. The dragon is a three crewmember keelboat that is admired for the finesse and elegance of its lines but also for the level of technicality it requires. Among the names of Dragon champions such as Luc Pillot, Guus De Groot or Frédéric Gourlaouen, are the names of amateur sailors since the Open International de Dragon is open to everyone and unfolds in a friendly atmosphere.
