Hermès Quartet

The members of the Hermès quartet, all graduated at the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique de Lyon, met in 2008 and started to study with the Ravel and Ysaÿe quartets, and then in Germany with the Artemis quartet.

The quartet won the 1st prize at the International music competitions of Lyon (2009) and Geneva (2011), and also at the Young Concert Artist New York auditions in 2012. It was invited for its debut at the Kennedy Centre of Washington and at the Carnegie Hall of New York, where it was welcomed by enthusiast public and critic.

The Hermès Quartet already participated to the Orangerie festival of Sceaux, the Périgord Noir music festival, Radio France/Montpellier, the Easter and Musical August festival of Deauville, the Sâou chante Mozart festival, the Musical September of Orne, the Cité de la musique and regularly to France Musique.

After having dedicated its first album, released in 2012, to Joseph Haydn and Ludwig van Beethoven, they recorded in 2014 under the La Dolce Volta label all Robert Schumann’s string quartets and Intimate letters of Leos Janacek under the B Records label, recorded in public at the Easter festival of Deauville.

The Hermès quartet was a laureate of the Banque Populaire-Natixis Foundation and has been in residence at the Singer-Polignac Foundation since 2013.
