The Deauville-La Touques racecourse

The Touques racecourse hosts most of these races during the year, thus gaining the “four season hippodrome” nickname. Its calendar includes 42 days exclusively dedicated to flat races, highlighting thoroughbred horses’ speed abilities. The Group-1 prestigious courses organized here and the training centre hosting 300 horses all over the year and 600 in summer attract the best riders and an international public. The Touques was the first racecourse to include ten years ago a sand-fibre track, hosting races in winter. The turf track is used again when the nice season comes. The Deauville–La Touques racecourse hosts several prestigious races forging its reputation, including the famous Rothschild, Maurice de Gheest, Jacques Le Marois, Morny, Jean Romanet prizes… and to end the summer season, the “Grand Prix de Deauville”.

The Deauville-Clairefontaine racecourse

If the Deauville-La Touques racecourse is the heaven of flat races, the Clairefontaine can claim to be the only official racecourse of the Norman coast hosting trotting, jumping and flat races, all exclusively on grass fields. Situated in the municipalities of Tourgéville and Bénerville, this nice racecourse with traditional Norman buildings is considered one of the most flowered of France: it is a “racecourse with 100,000 flowers”, to use an expression of Léon Zitrone. It is a relaxing and leisure place surrounded by nature, perfect to attend a race with family, as confirmed by a rich agenda including rich entertainment activities and themed days.

Arqana

The "Établissement Élie de Brignac" is the first thoroughbred auction hall in France, the second in Europe and the fourth in the world after Lexington, Newmarket and Dublin. Deauville has been the theatre of the sale of racing stars marking forever the history of international races, winning the legendary “Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe”: Hélissio, Subotica or Urban Sea, mother of the stallion Galileo, now at the head of the rankings in Europe, and of the stallion Sea The Stars, a champion too, have forged Arqana international reputation. Today, seven auction sales are organized during the year: three yearling sales, two training and “ready to run” horse sales, and two breeding and mixed sales. NOTE: the amphitheater of this establishment– with perfect acoustics – hosts concerts during the Easter Festival and the Musical August.

Training centre

Tattersall was built in 1887 and restored from 1985 to 1991. Different tracks are used for training:

- Flat races: three 2,000-m sand tracks, including one for trotting and two for canters ; a 2,000-m turf track with an area of 5 ha;

- Jumping races: a canter track equipped with mobile hedges; a steeple track.

The centre also disposes of tracks situated in the middle of the Deauville-La Touques racecourse. The new sand-fibre track ensures training under all atmospheric conditions.
