Guest of Planche(s) Contact Festival in 2011

Respectively born in 1981 and 1987 in the Paris region, Yves Marchand and Romain Meffre both started photography, on their own, in 2001. Fascinated by architecture and ruins, they published in 2010 a book entitled Detroit, vestiges du rêve américain (Detroit, vestiges of the American dream), which was a critical and commercial success. Their vision of the city goes beyond aesthetic: it is also a sociological and urbanistic vision. With exhibitions in Sweden and Paris, they started gaining recognition in the world of photography, but also in the fields of urbanism and architecture.

These young talents were invited in Deauville in 2011 to capture all the city sites dedicated to the equestrian world: racecourses, stables, weighing rooms, veterinarian clinics. This project was one of their first commissions at the time, testifying the Festival’s commitment in revealing a new generation of talents.
