Leyla McCalla

Invited to the Books & Music Festival 2017

In line with her first album titled Vari-Colored Songs, Leyla McCalla continues her multicultural exploration, going from her two countries (Haiti, his native land, and the United States, where she lives) to New Orleans, in her new album titled A Day for the Hunter, a Day for the Prey. Modern descendant of Alan Lomax and marked by the history of American folk and jazz music, she is a multi-instrumentalist; she writes and sings in English, in French and in Haitian Creole. Whether they are revisited traditional pieces or original compositions, in all her songs you can find something timeless, natural and intense as well as the smell of freedom and humanism.
