In 1973, Alain Resnais shot Stavisky, co-produced and interpreted by Jean-Paul Belmondo with Anny Duperey and Charles Boyer. The movie took place in 1933. In the adaptation of the biggest financial political scandal of the inter-war period, the characters visit Mégève, Biarritz… and Deauville. In one of the scenes, Arlette (Anny Duperey), Stavisky’s mistress, wanders along the beach together with Baron Raoul (Charles Boyer), her lifetime friend. The Rolls Royce driven by her chauffeur follows them at a distance, moving slowly. Jorge Semprun signed the adaptation and dialogues of the movie which was one of the four movies chosen to represent France at the Cannes Festival in 1974.
