Promoting reading and book access to young readers is one of the founding commitments of the Books & Music Festival. In addition to the school day, specific events are organized at the Villa Le Cercle for children and teenagers attending nursery school to high school during the Festival.

Everything is there: youth bookshop, authors available to sign dedications, workshops, activities, a dedicated discovery area…everything is there to feel a great need of reading!

2017 novelty:
Play and participate to several activities about reading. Creative games, puzzles, do-it-yourself workshops, game books for kids… choose what you want!

Weekend program at the Villa Le Cercle

Two youth projects are initiated by the Books & Music Festival:

A first project with Mission Culture/Justice, established by the Normandy Region, giving the festival the opportunity to host in 2016 an extraordinary exhibition made by young people from UEAJ (Unité Éducative d’Activité de Jour de la protection judiciaire de la jeunesse), and association L’Encrage and Hang’art.

A second project, carried out, under the direction of writer Belinda Cannone, with a group of students in Arts subjects of the University of Caen: the editorial board of the Festival Gazette. The periodical, focusing on the geographic theme, proposes further material about this edition: portraits of invited authors, interviews, reviews but also fiction texts. A freely distributed Festival edition.
