Jonas Vitaud

Musician

Born in 1980, he started to play piano at the age of 6 and organ at the age of 11. Trained by Brigitte Engerer, Jean Koerner and Christian Ivaldi, he obtained at the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique de Paris four 1st prizes in piano, chamber music, accompaniment and harmony.

Jonas Vitaud, laureate of several international contests both as soloist and chamber musician (Lyon, ARD of Munich, Trieste, Beethoven of Vienna), has been performing in prestigious festivals: the Roque d'Anthéron, the Lille Piano(s) Festival, the Orangerie de Sceaux, the Piano aux Jacobins, the Easter Festival of Deauville, the Chaise Dieu festival, the Fêtes musicales of Nohant, the Chopin festival of Bagatelle, the Richard Strauss Festival in Germany, the Autunno musicale of Caserta in Italy, the iDans d’Istanbul, the Summer Festival of Dubrovnik, the French May in Hong Kong.

He has been playing throughout Europe, but also in Russia, China, Turkey, Japan, the United States.

Jonas Vitaud has been playing with orchestras as those of Mulhouse, Toulouse (Orchestre du Capitole and Orchestre de chambre), the Orchestre des Pays de Savoie, the Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra, the Munich radio orchestra, with vocal (Sequenza or the Solistes de Lyon) and contemporary music ensembles.

He focused on chamber music playing with artists as Bertrand Chamayou, Sumi Hwang, Thierry Escaich, Christian-Pierre La Marca, Geneviève Laurenceau, Yann Levionnois, the Zaïde quartet.

Passionate for contemporary music, Jonas Vitaud has been working with composers such as Henri Dutilleux, Thierry Escaich, György Kurtag, Philippe Hersant. He performed several pieces by Christian Lauba, especially his triple concerto with the Orchestre de Mulhouse.

His first solo album dedicated to Brahms was released by Orchid Classics, and was acclaimed by critics (Supersonic Pizzicato award, 4 * BBC Music Magazine...).

Jonas Vitaud has been teaching at the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique de Paris since 2013.

An album dedicated to Léos Janáček and recorded in 2014 in Deauville was released by B Records.
